Department of Proton Therapy Technology
We have twenty-one radiological technologists stationed at our Center, as well as registered radiological technologists specializing in radiotherapy, medical physicists, and radiotherapy quality managers.
Our radiological technologists come into contact with patients at many points, such as CT scans for treatment plans and the daily proton irradiation.
Besides their contact with patients, they manage the quality of the devices, checking such things as whether the proton beam is using the specified amount and energy each day and the machinery is working at the specified accuracy.
They also assist the physicians in studying treatment plans and proposing how the photon beam should be directed.
Proton therapy cannot be done without the patient having a good understanding of the treatment details. For that reason, once it is decided to undergo proton therapy, the radiological technologist explains the sequence of events for the actual treatment, such as CT scans for the treatment plan.
We value communication, building relationships of trust with the patients, and then, carrying out the very best proton therapy possible as a team.

Department of Proton Therapy Physics
We have four PhDs in science on staff, as well as staff who are registered medical physicists.
Proton therapy is a cutting-edge treatment method, meaning there are still some areas that are being developed. So while they do not directly interact with the patients, these staff members carry out a range of studies to achieve the most accurate proton therapy possible.
In order to ensure that high quality proton therapy is provided with high levels of precision and efficiency, we are developing a range of devices to manage quality, to check that the devices are operating with the specified precision and to check that they are actually providing the irradiation called for in the patient’s treatment plan. We also collect the latest information on proton therapy, including overseas articles, and devote each day to ensuring that our patients can receive the best possible proton therapy at all times.

Department of Nursing
We have eleven nurses on staff.
The Department of Nursing is responsible for patient care, from discussing matters with medical institutes and patients, to treatment, and then to the post-treatment stage.

To those who have been diagnosed with cancer and are considering proton therapy… |
We know you there must be things you are uncertain about, but please feel free to talk with us about anything. |
To patients undergoing proton therapy at our Center… |
---|
If there is anything at all that worries you, please talk with us. Even after the treatment is over, you can phone us at any time. We will let you know the most appropriate method of dealing with the issue. We use our specialist knowledge and technology to provide patients with high quality, warm care that respects them as people. |
Operations and Planning Office
We have six staff members here. We forge links with regional medical institutions and related organizations so that no matter which hospital the patients go for consolation, we can provide an environment where they can come for consultation at our Center.
Operation and Maintenance Team
We have four technicians on staff, two of whom are always present during acceleration operation.
The proton therapy system is an extremely complex one, and our specialist technicians maintain a high operating rate for the system by carrying out inspections of the machinery at night and on weekends after treatments are completed.
