Features of the Center
Point 1 Uses the latest spot scanning irradiation techniques
Our Center’s proton therapy devices are based on devices used in the MD Anderson Cancer Center, the world’s largest cancer center. Spot scanning irradiation, the latest proton irradiation technique, takes place in a rotating gantry chamber.
This method makes for greater beam concentration over existing methods for treating tumors on such parts as the head and neck, pelvis, and spine, reducing the dosage to the healthy tissue and thus achieve cancer treatment that is even easier on the body.

Point 2 An “urban-style” facility for ease of outpatient visits
Our Center is just 15 minutes by taxi from Nagoya Station. We are also reachable by direct bus from Nagoya Station, from Sakae in the heart of Nagoya, from the nearest station, Kurokawa, and from Shonai Rd (city bus, Nazuka).
If coming by car, we are just 5 minutes from the Kurokawa, Torimi-cho, or Shonai-dori exits on the Nagoya Expressway.
connected with the Center via a passageway on the second level.
Point 3 As a facility attached to a hospital, a range of different treatment methods is possible
Our Center is part of the 500-bed NAGOYA CITY UNIVERSITY WEST MEDICAL CENTER general hospital. The West Medical Center, through mainly its Digestive System Tumor Center, provides team-based surgical treatment, endoscopy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, providing treatment for malignant growths. We are also attached to the Pediatric Medicine Center.
Point 4 First proton therapy facility for cancer in the three Tokai prefectures
Our Center is the first proton therapy facility in the three Tokai prefectures of Aichi, Gifu, and Mie. We aim to build a liaison system with university hospitals, cancer consultation liaison base hospitals, and other such institutions in the three Tokai prefectures and be active over a wide area.
